Kerri Morrone Sparling: The power of connecting with a diabetes community

Diabetes Sisters and The Behavioral Diabetes Institute recently hosted a gathering of 100 women with diabetes in a swank hotel in San Diego for 2 days and nights. It was called “Weekend for Women” and it was kind of like a grown-up camp for women with diabetes. Overall, a very positive and powerful experience.

One highlight for me was meeting diabetes blogger Kerri Morrone Sparling of www.sixuntilme.com.  Kerri’s wit and perspective highlight her gift for transforming (her own, and so many others’) diabetes.

In this episode, hear about Kerri’s personal and professional journey with this condition for the past quarter-century. Hear how she went from few connections with others with diabetes in Rhode Island, to becoming a vibrant part of an online community that lends support to thousands each day.

Some of Kerri’s favorite blogs and diabetes organizations doing transformative work (many of which she contributes her time and talents towards) include:

Thanks, Kerri, for your witty and inspiring life! It definitely is not defined by diabetes, but our connections with our community really do support us. Keep up your wonderful work.
